Preferably the apparatus is set to adjust itself when a new pile 1 of sheets 3 is placed in position, and acts to lower the rollers 5 until they contact the sheets. Adjustment then follows until the rollers 5 are within a set tolerance of an optimum positioning with respect to the particular sheets 3, so that they are fed in exact synchronism with the suckers 2. Alternatively the apparatus may be made to adjust itself to skew presentation of the sheets.
